Adult ADHD Testing & Evaluation

If you've spent years feeling like focus, follow-through, and organization are harder for you than they seem to be for everyone else, you're not alone — and you don't have to keep guessing. A comprehensive ADHD evaluation gives you clear, professional answers about how your attention and executive function actually work, so you can make informed decisions about next steps.

Dr. Lisa-Mae Armbrust is a licensed psychologist who provides thorough, individualized ADHD assessments for adults. Most of this evaluation can be completed from home via secure telehealth, on a schedule that works for you.

What an adult ADHD evaluation is — and who it's for

An adult ADHD evaluation is a structured assessment that looks at your attention, focus, memory, and executive functioning, alongside a careful review of your history and current daily life. It's designed to give you an accurate clinical picture rather than a quick label.

This evaluation may be a good fit if you:

  • Struggle with focus, time management, or finishing tasks at work or in school
  • Were never assessed as a child but have always suspected something was going on
  • Want a formal evaluation to access workplace or academic accommodations
  • Are exploring whether medication might help and need a diagnostic evaluation first
  • Have anxiety or depression alongside attention difficulties and want to understand what's driving what

Evaluations are conducted by Dr. Armbrust personally — a licensed psychologist — not handed off to a technician or an automated questionnaire.

What the process looks like

  1. Free consult (20 minutes). We talk through what's bringing you in and confirm an evaluation is the right step. No cost, no pressure.
  2. Clinical interview. A thorough conversation about your history, symptoms, and how attention shows up across your life.
  3. Standardized testing. Validated measures of attention and executive functioning, plus rating scales. Most components are completed remotely from home via secure telehealth.
  4. Scoring and interpretation. Dr. Armbrust reviews and integrates everything into a clear written report.
  5. Feedback session. We walk through the findings together so you understand exactly what they mean and what your options are.

Turnaround. You'll receive your written report within 1–2 weeks of completing testing, followed by a feedback session to review it together.

Pricing

Pricing is set individually and confirmed during your free initial consultation, so you’ll know your exact cost before you schedule — always in writing, with a Good Faith Estimate and no surprise bills.

We believe in transparent, upfront pricing. Before any testing begins, you'll receive a Good Faith Estimate — a clear written breakdown of costs, as required under the federal No Surprises Act. No surprise bills.

Why self-pay can work in your favor: Insurance often places strict limits on comprehensive testing and can require lengthy pre-authorization, and many insurance-based practices carry multi-month waitlists for evaluations. Paying out of pocket means no insurance gatekeeping, faster scheduling, and full privacy over your records.

Using your out-of-network benefits

Armbrust Psychology does not bill insurance directly. We provide superbills on request — an itemized superbill you can submit to your insurer to seek partial reimbursement under your out-of-network benefits. Reimbursement depends on your individual plan, and we're happy to point you to the questions to ask your insurer before you begin.

What your report can be used for

A comprehensive evaluation produces a detailed written report that can support:

  • Workplace accommodations under the ADA (for example, modified deadlines or a quieter work setup)
  • College and graduate-school accommodations, including extended testing time through disability services
  • A referral for medication, if you choose to pursue that with a prescribing provider
  • Your own understanding — a clear framework for the strategies and supports that fit how your mind works

The report is thorough, professional, and yours to keep.

Frequently asked questions

Can adult ADHD testing really be done online?

Yes. Much of an adult ADHD evaluation — the clinical interview, rating scales, and many standardized measures — can be completed securely via telehealth, so most of it is done from home. Dr. Armbrust will let you know during your consult whether any part of your specific evaluation needs to be done in person.

Do you accept insurance?

We're a self-pay practice and don't bill insurance directly. We provide superbills on request so you can pursue out-of-network reimbursement, and you'll always get transparent, upfront pricing and a Good Faith Estimate.

Will I get an ADHD diagnosis?

An evaluation is a comprehensive clinical assessment, not a predetermined outcome. Dr. Armbrust will give you an honest, evidence-based picture of what the testing shows — which sometimes means ADHD, and sometimes means another explanation for your difficulties that's worth understanding.
