The basics
Common questions
Do you accept insurance?
Armbrust Psychology is a self-pay practice and does not bill insurance directly. This means no insurance gatekeeping over what testing is appropriate, faster scheduling, and full privacy over your records. On request, the practice can provide a superbill you may submit to your plan for possible out-of-network reimbursement. See our Fees & Insurance page for details.
Can testing be done online?
Much of adult assessment — including a large part of adult ADHD and autism evaluations — can be completed online via secure telehealth. Some pediatric and developmental testing requires hands-on, in-person components and is offered by appointment (currently Thursdays). During your consult we'll tell you exactly what your evaluation involves.
What is a Good Faith Estimate?
Under the federal No Surprises Act, clients who are uninsured or paying out of pocket have the right to a written Good Faith Estimate of expected costs before services begin. We provide one for every evaluation — it's a transparency benefit, so you see your costs upfront with no surprise bills. More on our Fees & Insurance page.
How much does testing cost?
Fees vary by the type of evaluation, since each is tailored to your questions. Your exact fee is set individually and confirmed during your free consultation — in writing, before any testing begins. You'll find a full breakdown by service on our Fees & Insurance page.
How long until I get my report?
You'll receive a thorough written report after your evaluation is complete. Typical turnaround is 1–2 weeks, and we'll confirm the timeline with you upfront so you know what to expect.
What ages do you work with?
We evaluate clients from toddlerhood through adulthood. The right format depends on age and referral question — some young children are seen in person, while much of adult testing is completed online.
Which states do you serve for telehealth?
Dr. Armbrust provides telehealth services only in the states where she is licensed: Alabama, Arizona, Arkansas, Colorado, Connecticut, Delaware, the District of Columbia, Florida, Georgia, Idaho, Illinois, Indiana, Kansas, Kentucky, Maine, Maryland, Michigan, Minnesota, Mississippi, Missouri, Montana, Nebraska, Nevada, New Hampshire, New Jersey, North Carolina, North Dakota, Ohio, Oklahoma, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, South Carolina, South Dakota, Tennessee, Texas, Utah, Vermont, Virginia, Washington, West Virginia, Wisconsin, and Wyoming. In-person testing is available in Florida by appointment. If your state isn't listed, reach out and we can point you toward appropriate resources.
Will I or my child get a diagnosis?
An evaluation is a comprehensive, objective assessment — not a predetermined outcome. We gather information through interviews, standardized testing, and history, then interpret the full picture. Sometimes that leads to a diagnosis; sometimes it clarifies that something else is going on. Either way, you receive clear answers and practical recommendations.
What can I use the report for?
Our reports are written to be useful. Depending on your situation, they can support school 504 plans and IEPs, college and graduate-school disability services, workplace accommodations, and referrals for medication evaluation with a prescribing provider. We'll discuss your specific goals so the report addresses them.
