Adult Autism Evaluation

An evaluation for adults exploring whether they are autistic. The goal is genuine self-understanding and practical support, conducted personally by a licensed psychologist. Much of the process can be completed from home via secure telehealth.

What it is & who it is for

An evaluation built around understanding, not labels

Many adults reach this point after years of sensing they experience the world a little differently — and wanting language that fits. This is a comprehensive evaluation by a licensed psychologist that explores your developmental history, social communication, sensory experiences, focus and executive function, and the strengths that come with an autistic profile. It is an assessment, not a predetermined result.

This may be a good fit if you:

  • Wonder whether you are autistic
  • Have masked or "camouflaged" for years and feel the cost of it
  • Want clarity on social, sensory, or executive-function experiences
  • Are seeking self-understanding and language that genuinely fits you
  • Need documentation to request reasonable workplace or academic accommodations
  • Were missed earlier in life and want a careful adult-focused look

Affirming, strengths-based language is used throughout. Being autistic is a difference in how a person experiences and engages with the world — not something to be cured or fixed.

What the process looks like

A clear path, mostly from home

  1. Free consult. A brief, no-pressure conversation to hear what is bringing you in and confirm an evaluation makes sense.
  2. Intake & history. A structured clinical interview covering your developmental history, daily life, and the questions you most want answered.
  3. Questionnaires & measures. Validated self-report tools, completed securely online at your own pace.
  4. Interactive assessment. A guided session exploring social communication, sensory experiences, and focus. Much of this can be completed via telehealth.
  5. Scoring & interpretation. The psychologist integrates every source into a single, coherent picture.
  6. Feedback session. You walk through the findings together with the psychologist, in plain language, and discuss what helps from here.
  7. Written report. You receive a detailed report you own and can use going forward.

Pricing & transparency

Simple self-pay, no surprises

The adult autism evaluation is priced individually and confirmed during your free consultation, billed as transparent self-pay. Because insurance is not billed, there is no waitlist, no diagnosis-justifying gatekeeping, and full privacy over your records.

Why self-pay works in your favor

  • No insurance waitlist — scheduling happens promptly
  • Your records stay private, not in an insurer's file
  • A senior clinician's attention from start to finish

Good Faith Estimate

Before any testing begins, you will receive a Good Faith Estimate in writing — your right under the federal No Surprises Act. Clear costs, agreed up front.

What your report can be used for

Findings you can put to work

Workplace accommodations

Documentation to support reasonable accommodation requests with an employer.

Self-understanding

A clear framework for your strengths, needs, and the way you process the world.

Access to support services

A foundation for connecting with therapies, coaching, and community supports that fit.

Academic accommodations

Documentation to request accommodations at school and on college-board exams such as the SAT. Each school and board decides these under its own rules, so approval is never guaranteed.

Out-of-network & reimbursement. As a self-pay practice, services are out-of-network. Superbills are provided on request — if you have out-of-network benefits, a superbill can be submitted to your insurer for possible partial reimbursement. See Fees & Insurance for details.

Questions

Adult autism evaluation FAQ

Can the whole evaluation be done online?

Much of the adult evaluation — the interview, questionnaires, and a good deal of the interactive assessment — can be completed via secure telehealth. What your specific evaluation involves is confirmed during the consult.

Is this an affirming evaluation?

Yes. The evaluation uses neurodiversity-affirming, strengths-based language. The aim is understanding and support — never a deficit framing or any notion of "curing" who you are.

Will I definitely receive a diagnosis?

An evaluation is a careful assessment, not a predetermined outcome. The report reflects what the testing and clinical interview actually show, along with practical recommendations either way.
