A psychoeducational evaluation combines cognitive testing with academic testing — and relevant attention measures when needed — into a single integrated report. It describes how a student learns, where they're struggling, and what supports the findings point to. It's an assessment that informs an accommodation request, not a guarantee of any particular outcome.
This evaluation may be a good fit if:

- History & records review. We gather developmental and academic history along with report cards, prior testing, and teacher or instructor input.
- Cognitive testing. Standardized measures of reasoning, memory, and processing show the student's learning profile and strengths.
- Academic achievement testing. Direct testing of reading, writing, and math identifies where skills stand relative to ability and grade level.
- Attention measures, as relevant. When attention or executive function is a question, we add appropriate measures so the picture is complete.
- Integrated report & feedback. Dr. Armbrust synthesizes everything into one report with clear findings and recommendations, then reviews it with you in plain language.

Clear self-pay pricing, with no surprises
This evaluation is offered on a self-pay basis, with your exact fee confirmed during your free consultation. Paying privately means fast scheduling without a waitlist, full privacy over your records, and a senior clinician's attention throughout — which matters when you're working toward a school or testing deadline.
Before testing begins, you'll receive a written Good Faith Estimate of the full cost. This is your right under the federal No Surprises Act, and we treat it as a baseline of transparency.
Turnaround. Written reports are typically completed within 1–2 weeks of your final testing session. If you have a deadline, tell us on the consult.
What your report can be used for
Formal documentation you own
Your integrated report is detailed and professional, written to support accommodation requests. Families and students commonly use it to:
- Provide 504 Plan or IEP eligibility documentation to a school district
- Register with a college or university disability services office
- Support a request for standardized-test accommodations (such as extended time, a reduced-distraction setting, or note-taking support)
An important note on eligibility. Whether accommodations are granted is decided by each school, district, university, or testing board under its own rules and criteria. A comprehensive report documents findings and supports your request — it cannot guarantee that any specific accommodation will be approved. We're glad to explain how the documentation process typically works so you know what to expect.
Out-of-network benefits
Self-pay, with possible reimbursement
We are an out-of-network practice. Some clients with out-of-network benefits choose to seek partial reimbursement from their insurer after paying privately. We provide superbills on request for you to submit. Reimbursement is determined solely by your plan, so we'd encourage you to check your out-of-network coverage in advance. Psychoeducational testing FAQ
Will this evaluation guarantee my child gets a 504 Plan or IEP?
No evaluation can guarantee that. Eligibility decisions belong to the school or district based on their own criteria. What we provide is a thorough, professional report that documents the findings and supports your request through their process.
Can the report be used for standardized-test accommodations?
It can support a request for accommodations like extended time or a reduced-distraction setting. Each testing board sets its own documentation requirements and makes its own decisions, so approval is never guaranteed. Share which test you're targeting and we'll aim to address its documentation expectations.
Do you test college students and adults?
Yes. College and university disability offices frequently require recent psychoeducational testing, and we regularly evaluate older students and adults for that purpose.
How is this different from learning disability testing?
The testing overlaps heavily. Learning disability testing centers on identifying specific differences like dyslexia; psychoeducational testing is usually framed around producing formal documentation for accommodations. On your consult, we'll recommend the right fit.
What if attention also seems to be a problem?
We can include relevant attention measures in the integrated evaluation. If ADHD is the primary question, our child ADHD testing may be the better place to start.
